What is "Checks with Jexx"?

Checks with Jexx is a video format in production where I explore and evaluate games
based on my personal experience within the first hours of gameplay.
Rather than providing professional critique,
the format focuses on my honest player perspective,
combined with my opinion of the games design.

The Concept

Each episode is based on a simple structure:
I play a game for approximately two hours,
sharing my thoughts and impressions in real time.
The focus lies on how the game feels,
how clearly it communicates its mechanics,
and how engaging the experience is from a player perspective.
Alongside the video format, I developed a small web-based ranking system
where I organize and rate the games I have played.

The ranking reflects my personal perspective
and helps structure my impressions in a consistent way.

Evaluation Criteria

Each game is explored based on:

• Clarity of mechanics
• Art style and atmosphere

Design Perspective

While the format is rooted in a player perspective,
it also reflects my growing interest in game design.

By analyzing games through experience,
I develop a better understanding of how design decisions
impact player engagement and perception.

Goal

The goal of this project is to combine personal experience
with an evolving design perspective.

It serves as a way to reflect myself on games,
understand what makes them engaging,
and continuously improve my own approach to game design.

At the same time, it aims to highlight indie games
and provide potential players with an honest impression
of whether a game is worth their time and money.
